I’m very pleased with my Otterbox Commuter case for Droid Eris. It provides excellent protection for the phone, and at $23, was a pretty good deal on Amazon (try to finagle your order to get the super saver shipping). The case doesn’t make the phone overly thick and bulky, which was a concern when I bought it. Screen protectors don’t seem to diminish the viewing of the screen (I’ve heard some can be murky). The one complaint – admittedly nitpicky – is that case is not very “grippy”. It could easily slip out of your hand or off you lap. The guy at the Verizon store actually recommended the Otterbox over the cases in their store. And every other reviewer is correct – Amazon is showing the wrong product image – so look at the user uploaded image for the correct one.

Like the other reviewer mentioned, the product image shown here is incorrect. The commuter case is actually composed of an inner silicone skin and a hard plastic shell that fits snugly over the skin.
My fiancee initially purchased this case, and I was so impressed with it that I decided to go for it myself. I don’t like the look of most silicone “skins” that are sold to protect mobile phones, but I wanted something that would provide more shock absorbtion than a plastic snap-on cover. This is truly the best of both worlds. It also comes with a high-quality plastic screen protector. Incidentally, I didn’t install the screen protector correctly and wound up ruining it in the process (it sticks to the screen via a static charge, and I dropped it and got tons of dust and lint on it from my carpet). I called the Otterbox customer support line to order a replacement, and was surprised when a real person picked up immediately, rather than feeding me through an automated message system. I was even more surprised to find out that the screen protector is covered under the product’s warranty, and they are shipping a new one to me free of charge.
It’s a little more expensive than other cases you might find, but it’s worth every penny. The build quality of the case is excellent, and their customer service is outstanding.

If you are looking for a quality case then this is still a good case, but the one being advertised and the one in the picture are two totally different things and even on the Otterbox website the case in the picture is only $[...] but the actual commuter case is $[...] which has three layers 1. a screen protector 2. a silicon case 3. One piece custom molded polycarbonate shell which honestly is probably the best quality and best protection you can possibly buy for your phone. The case in the picture has only two layers 1. a clear protective film for the screen 2. Durable textured skin for grip (which is for the most part silicone) though still another great case by Otterbox. Just so you know the name of this case is the Impact series case.
